Somnolence

To point out the positives first, you had some beautiful coloring and flow in this video. The audio was perfectly selected, and we really like the story that you were going for according to your description, particularly since you were building off a previous entry - we always find it really, really cool when contestants do that! You had good clip selection to portray Yuna's emotions, and all in all - you made a very interesting video. Because of the stage of this competition, the feedback has gotten nit-picky. So do not be discouraged, you have a beautiful entry! :)
Your use of overlays was interesting, but for the story that you were trying to portray, we found that use of technique to be weaker than if you had simply used scene selections to portray something actually happening (like two people in the same room talking as compared to Yuna and Lulu's face hovering in an overlay overtop each other).
Although we understand that you used the clip of the monster and the blonde to demonstrate how ghosts were affecting the world, the introduction of new characters seemed a bit jarring. We would have loved to have seen Yuna somehow associated with the scene. We also would have liked to have seen Yuna conversing with the "oracle" before her spirit dance because suddenly the lady from 300 was on the screen without any real explanation and Yuna was watching her. Without the description, we would have found this confusing and hard to follow. Even with the description, it was a bit hard to follow.
You mention that you'd like feedback on your masks. One thing we would suggest is working on your feathering. If you feather and then color, you'll sometimes get a thick, blurry black line like at 1:27. One way to avoid this is to strip both the source clip you are trying to mask onto, and then your mask clip of colors. Do you mask. You shouldn't have any feathering problems without your colors. Once you have a subtle mask complete, render it together. Then put the rendered clip into your time and color it as needed. The coloring will now NOT affect your mask, so you won't get the thick, blurry feather outlines. Your masks are good, we just noticed your feathering to be distinctly dark and thick a lot of the time.
Your wedding clips made no sense. It took a moment for us to realize that it was portraying "yuna running away with dante". This is mostly because Yuna's dress completely changes, making it seem like either: a. the passage of time into a future date, or b. the past - when it's not either of those things. We understand that it's hard to avoid that, considering that's the footage you had to use, but it was jarring and distracting.
Those were a major notes about your piece. Otherwise, it's a strong, beautiful entry that we are honored to have associated to this competition! You have done an amazing job so far! Unfortunately, of the six of you, only three may move on to the last and final round of the contest. At this point, our scoring is extremely nit-picky simply because every single one of your is absolutely amazing at what you do, and because of it, we have to consider every. last. detail.
With this in mind, we regret to inform you that you will not be moving onto the last stage of the competition. We are honored to have had you with us until this stage, and we have throughly enjoyed watching your progress until this point. You are an amazing editor, and we hope you continue to edit and grow in the days to come! Thank you for participating! We have loved watching your entries.
