The Prophecy

One thing we loved about your entry was that your video portrayed more story than you description did! Often we have entries with a complex description only to find the video to be lacking of the same details, or vague, or at times even watered down by comparison. This was not so with your piece and we loved that about it! Your description told us what to expect, but didn't give away all the surprises! Nice job!
Kudos to you for having the patience and skill to work on a video so long! We were impressed by your ability to make a video this long captivating for most of it's duration since most videos tend to be 3-4 minutes.
Sometimes you had inconsistent coloring which was jarring. The colors would go form flat to warm to bright without any noticeable reason at times. We also would have loved to have seen less "talk face" (characters talking with no action/no audio - so just taking up space) and more clips that portray action or movement or expressions. In Act I, we also had trouble connecting the relevance between clips at times. Additionally, you would at times fade in and out of music choices abruptly.
We don't know who the girl is at 3:52. Was that supposed to be Fang? We found this VERY confusing. Your clip choices are important, and it's vital to stick with clips of the same character (like Fang always being Fang) unless something significant (like their age) has changed. Then it's very important to make sure there's a clear connection to make to that. When you select characters for an elaborate story, make sure you'll have enough footage of them. As it is, sometimes your clip choices were confusing, and the graphics/style of them wasn't always the same, which made it hard to connect them to one another.
At times you slow clips down to the point where the movement of the characters is so slow, it's noticeable and jerky. Try to avoid slowing clips down to this point, because they lose their fluidity and become distracting. Another thing we would have liked to have seen is a bit more consistency in the style of your music. There is a way to get music to match the mood of your scenes while still correlating with the rest of the music, and at times we found your music to be so diverse that we weren't sure why it was selected in relation to your other choices.
You made an intricate and beautiful video. The sheer amount of energy that must have gone into editing a video that long alone is absolutely impressive and something to be proud of! There were a few things that we found jarring and distracting, but as a whole - you have a beautiful entry. Unfortunately, of the six of you, only three may move on to the last and final round of the contest. At this point, our scoring is extremely nit-picky simply because every single one of your is absolutely amazing at what you do, and because of it, we have to consider every. last. detail.
With this in mind, we regret to inform you that you will not be moving onto the last stage of the competition. We are honored to have had you with us until this stage, and we have throughly enjoyed watching your progress until this point. You are an amazing editor, and we hope you continue to edit and grow in the days to come! Thank you for participating! We have loved watching your entries.
